Resolution to resolution
For optimal image quality for most printing purposes, bitmap (e.g. JPEG) images should have a resolution of 200 to 300 Dpi (dots per inch) at 100% print size. This means that images must be bought/taken in high quality. Images that are taken from the web usually are saved at 72 dpi and will not have enough quality to be printed. see example below

Plan your layout first to determine the required print size and resolution for your images. If your not sure start high, it can always be made lower in resolution. However this is not possible going the other direction small res files cannot be scaled larger. Once the information in the file is gone it's gone.

Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is great for a multitude of uses. Everything needed for high-resolution printing can be packed into one file. When exporting from any program such as Indesign or Illustrator, make sure your .PDF files export correctly and is set to (Press Quality) (Modified). Also, make sure compatibility is set to: Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3) and Compress text and line art is set to: off |
Note: Low resolution files may be printed as is or will be placed on hold until we receive new files, slowing your turn-around.
